Hey Bestie, Heyyyy!!!

Sometimes we hurt people with our words. Sometimes this happens by mistake and we don’t mean to.

Has this ever happened to you?

Has anyone ever become sad or angry after something you said?

I know! I know! Sometimes we get really excited and we don’t think about what we are going to say.

But, that’s why it’s so important to T-H-I-N-K! The letters in the word, “Think” are special because they help you to remember what to do before you say something.

Think is spelled T-H-I-N-K.

T is for True.  Is what you are going to say true?

H is for Helpful. Is what you are going to say helpful? Is it going to help the person?

I is for Inspiring. Things that are inspiring help people to feel excited and make them want to do good things.

N is for necessary.  Does that person need to hear what you are going to say to them?

K is for kind and this one is the most important. Is what you are going to say kind?

Okay, let’s try “T-H-I-N-K” and see if it works!!

Let’s say I want to tell my friend that she’s bad at math. (Of course, I would never really say that because we can all get better at things when we practice!)

T is it true?

H is it helpful? Will it help my friend if I tell her that she is bad at math? No, probably not. It would help her if I helped her, right? But not if I just tell her that she is bad.

I is it inspiring? Will telling my friend that she is bad at math make her feel excited and want to do good things? No. This will probably make her sad.

N is it necessary? Do I need to tell her this? Hmm...I think the answer to this is no.

K is this kind to say? No, it isn’t.

So, do you think I should tell my friend that she is bad at math? I had 4 NOs, so I will not say this to my friend!

Wow! This really works!!!

Today's Mission:

Dear Bestie, Your mission today is to use

T-H-I-N-K before you say things to others, especially if you are not sure if it is a good thing to say or not!

Love you sooo much,

Big Bestie-Gahmya
